Descrição

Usually, the research about urban parks, cyclists, and the cycling network are not evaluated together, nor are their interactions, resulting in a need to understand the correlations between these issues related to both urban and environmental design. This study’s goals are to better understand the links between urban parks with adjacent bike lanes and cyclists that visit the urban parks in Porto Alegre/RS/Brazil. Intercept surveys were conducted in this study, with questionnaires distributed online and in person to cyclists who frequent any of these locations. The key findings revealed that having bike routes next to parks is a significant component in encouraging cyclists to use them; there are numerous motivations for cyclists to use these areas, with leisure being the most common. As a result of this data, it is conceivable to conclude that urban parks and bicycle infrastructure in the city should be rethought simultaneously, as they are highly associated.
